CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Following nursing process: Assessing, diagnosis, planning, implementing, evaluating.
2. Recording details and symptoms of patient medical history and current health
3. Preparing patients for exams and treatment
4. Administering medications and treatments, then monitoring patients for side effects and reactions
5. Creating, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans with the medical team
6. Performing wound care, such as cleaning and bandaging them
7. Assisting in medical procedures as needed
8. Operating and monitoring medical equipment
9. Drawing blood, urine samples, and other body fluids for lab work
10. Educating patients and family members on treatment and care plans, as well as answering their questions
11. Advocates for patients’ rights from the patient/family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve
issues.
12. Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs while intervening to maximize patient outcomes. Coordinates healthcare and
alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
13. Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of
clinical decision making of all team members.
14. Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with
documentation.
